I used The Dream Holiday Desinations I choose to go is Disneyland California.I found the official and the unofficial site about the place but this time I will talk about the unofficial site as they are more helping in planning a trip to Disneyland.The site address is http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneyland.

I used coverage to evaluate the website for my dream holiday. The coverage of the website is wide, they covered many Disney related cruise, travel and resort and also having packages linked to the sites that offered tickets and bookings. The site coverage is broad as they also cover other information like dining, transportation, discount, planning and many more. Is is also reliable as they have interactions with consumers using social media, blogs, forums and even podcast which broaden their media. Some interaction example are the forum user answering to questions that consumers may have on the forum and facebook to keep information updated, this also mean that the information are up to date.

Another criteria I used will be their presentation and arrangement which they had was interactive and interesting. The navigation is simple and the categories are arranged in an orderly manner which allows me to easily find what I need.

The purpose of the site was also clear on their facebook they said that their purpose is to share their love of Disney and help others plan their best vacation possible.

Overall I find this site very useful as compare to the official as they provides many information plus information related to the Disney theme park and cruise. They also provide information on how to get there and places to stay while enjoying the trip.

I choose to go to Disneyland California as I feel that it is one of world best theme park, they had my favorite Disney characters and also I get to visits some of their places recreated from the movies. I am also anticipating the fireworks they have at the end of the day. Besides that , as an animation student, I also wish to visit and look at the animation they have.

Activity 3 (Blog Reflections)

I personally feel that invisible web database is more effective than both meta-search and subject directories ,however it is as effective as using search engine. Meta –search comparing to search engine and web database, the difference will be their interface and relevance. I feel that Meta –search engine has too many distracting advertisement that blends into the results and its results were almost the same as general search engine but more due to having other search engines included. Invisible web database has more efficiency compare to meta-search as they can easily export data and also having a more powerful filter and they provide sources with better reliability.

Invisible web database is also much more effective than search directory despite both of them having limited results, web database provides more relevant and reliable result.I feel that search engine like google are comparable to web databases as google provides lots of resources in a short time and although their interface are not as good as databases like ebsco,they are are still be tter than meta search engine ,as they have better filter and also omitting advertisement. Search engine Google also provides a wider range of information which make it up for its lack of features compared to databases and also search engine are easy to access and use. Therefore at times when where information are lacking in database,I can still use google to search for more.

I would prefer using ebsco database for my research topic. They have many functions that help me get my results faster and more efficient. The export system they have are very useful, as for the searching ,users can easily filter and find results and also using the find similar, the site will provide more results. Overall, the searching process using ebsco database is efficient and reliable.

The database I will use for my course will be ebook database from the library as for animation,I will need books on drawing and animating,mostly in visual image format and also reference and guide books.There ebook database will be the best place to get those books in electronic format which can be access anywhere.

Blog Reflections

E-shopping activity was fun and interesting as I could browse through the products that I like and look up about them. Normally I will use g-market but I went to Amazon and eBay this as I wish to try them .I will prefer Amazon over eBay as they have a wider variety of products compared to eBay. However, Amazon is in USD, which is a hassle as I have to convert them before knowing the actual prices. Besides that ,Amazon has customer reviews which allow me know if their products can be trusted, they also have product recommendation which helps us find similar product. Sometimes they even have packages for the products which make them come in set and at a reasonable price. Overall, Amazon has a better interface and provides more information compared to eBay.

Yes i do think there is a need for researchers to know the different purposes of the websites. This will help the researcher to know if their resource is reliable and correct. It will also help them to find the specific information they needed. For example, if the researcher wants to find information on health, WHO (World Health Organisation) will be a place for facts and information they need. And if they enter a personal blog website for facts about health, the reliability of information will be questionable, which they have to look up on the author's information.

For the research on my topic, Impact and implications of human organ transplants, I found website on Singapore Human Organ Transplant Act(HOTA) which was helpful in letting me understand the topic as it gives that facts I needed for my topic.

I found this advocacy website called Greenpeace international. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en the website is totally different from the shopping websites:

1. On their homepage, the Greenpeace international display their activities which show what they do giving people a basic idea of what the website is about. On the other hand, Amazon’s home page shows advertisement on the products and product prices.

2. The advocacy site tries to create a public opinion through campaigns and membership and thus gaining support from people, while Amazon‘s membership is meant for buying products and also having a personalised recommendation.

3. The advocacy site is promoting a cause and actively promotes people to join their organisation, while Amazon is promoting their product and services.

The most meaningful lesson I had learnt from practical 1 and 2 will be the different purposes of internet resource and types of internet resource. I get to know about internet resources like FTP (file transfer protocol) and, Databases and many more .As for the purposes, advocacy was a new term for me which was quite interesting. I get to know what advocacy does and thus giving me more awareness of websites’ influences in future.

Activity 3 : E-Shopping Spree

Product : Game Gripper - Droid Game Controller, Snes Style Buttons - s$45(converted from US dollar).

The very first product i want to buy online with the 500 dollar will be a game gripper.The game gripper is a portable game controller for mobile phones.It connects with the phone through bluetooth allowing the user to play games with better controller. Mobile phones nowadays are touch screen,so does the applications.However ,since most phones no longer have buttons ,i feel that it is just playing with the glass,so with the game gripper ,it can allow me to feel the buttons and to play with comfort.On top of that, the game gripper is small and portable.

While browsing through amazon, i found this comercial showing on the screen.I first thought that it is a ebook reader which interest me.This product actually acts like a tablet pc or ipad but at a much affordable price.I would like to buy this for e-book reading as it will be very convenient to bring them around and it can also be used to watch movies.

Digital Painting Techniques: Practical Techniques of Digital Art Masters (Masters Collection)S$116.90. (converted from US dollar).

These digital painting books will be very helpful to my course as they can teach me how to compose beautiful art pieces.Another reason i would them would be their total prices is much cheaper than buying them in Singapore Bookstores and it will save me a least the price of one book.

Happy Call Double-Sided Pan S$60

With the remaining $82.10,I decide to buy this pan on eBay called happy call for my mom.According to advertisement,due to its double side , food can be easily flipped without worrying the oil leaking out or food not fully cooked.Besides it being user friendly, the pan can be used to make popcorn!

This activity was quite interesting as I can search online and put down things that i always wanted to get.I also realized that by shopping online i can save a lot of money as they offer a much more reasonable price compare to buying in stores.However,the only problem would be unable to see the actual product before buying.
